Sarah Harper M. Ed., LAC
Therapist - Gilbert & Telehealth
Sarah Harper M. Ed., LAC is a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Associate Counselor specializing in child-centered play therapy and family therapy. With a deep commitment to helping children and families build resilience, connection, and healing, Sarah brings warmth and expertise to her work with some of the most vulnerable populations.
Throughout her career, Sarah has developed particular expertise in working with adopted children of all ages, adoptive parents, and caregivers of children who have been displaced from their biological families. This specialized focus has shaped her approach to therapy, which is rooted in centering the child's voice and experience while guiding families through the complexities of adoption, foster care, and transitions with compassion and clarity.
Sarah believes in the power of play as a therapeutic tool and strives to create a safe, creative space where children can express themselves authentically. Her approach honors each child's unique story while supporting families in strengthening their bonds and navigating challenging emotions together. This balance allows children and their caregivers to feel truly seen, heard, and supported throughout their healing journey.
While adoption and foster care are central to her practice, Sarah also works with children and families outside of these contexts, helping them manage stress, address behavioral challenges, work through trauma, and foster emotional growth. Her clinical experience includes supporting children navigating attachment concerns, behavioral difficulties, anxiety, depression, and general mental health needs.
As a collaborative therapist, Sarah tailors her approach to each child and family, using developmentally appropriate interventions that meet clients where they are. Her therapeutic style is warm, creative, and relational, ensuring that each session feels supportive rather than prescriptive.
Beyond her counseling practice, Sarah is passionate about extending her impact through training and consultation. She has provided professional development for educators and community professionals, equipping them with trauma-informed strategies to better support children in school and other settings. Her commitment to advocacy and education reflects her belief that all children deserve compassionate, informed care in every environment they navigate.
